Top 5 Video Game Trailers!

Hey, everybody! It's been a while since my last post, but that's due to a shakeup at work which will most likely result in extra blogging time, so I've exchanged a small defeat for a great victory. I'll probably hit the blog several times today, but in the meantime I need to think up a few topics. I think for my first post of the day I'll use a topic from my idea notebook for the Youtube channel.
I'll start at the top. Item one on page one is actually very near and dear to my heart. I love all things nerdy, including, perhaps unsurprisingly, video games. Another passion of mine is the art of making a trailer. A trailer is the perfect distillation of the catharsis of playing a game, but with the added value of leaving you excited for more. It's really a gift that keeps on giving. So here are my:
Top 5 Video Game Trailers (in Recent Memory.)

5- My first choice comes from what may be the most popular indie game of all time.
Starting out with a haunting song played to accompany a recap of the original game's story, this trailer cuts straight to the core with some over the top gore and puppet work which digs a hole at the bottom of the uncanny valley. It's beautiful, aggressive, depressing, bone-chilling, and perfectly indicative of the game. It's a keeper.

4- This one is actually a DLC trailer for a later game on the list,
Speaking of perfectly representing the game, this mini-movie set in the Borderlands franchise so utterly captures the Borderlands sense of humor that it hurts. A tale of mental instability and love at first sight, not only does this trailer make you want to laugh out loud, but it may even make you feel some pretty deep feels for a video which uses poop jokes. It may be a DLC trailer, but I'll be damned if it doesn't belong on this list.

3- This entry tickle me in all the right places as it reminds me of my first foray into cosplay!
Wow. Even after a moment to collect my thoughts I still can't seem to find the words. This trailer is a departure from the ordinary in so many ways it deserves a blog post to itself one day, but for now let's settle with wow.

2- This place actually gets 2 mentions. I couldn't choose which of these belonged here.
These trailers hyped me up to an insane degree. I had spent at least a thousand hours in the original with friends, and just when the magic was starting to fade here comes the Dubstep-fueled, brilliant, hilarious answer to my just-post-highschool problems. They each contain more of that hyper-distilled essence of Borderlands in their sense of humor and sense of pure epic scale which is why they both earned the number two slot. Also, that "Come and get me." still gives me chills to this day.

1- This trailer truly combines all of the best qualities from the other entries on this list.
Holy shit, folks. A trailer that perfectly sets the tone of the game advertised, this trailer is what pushed me to do this list. Its beautiful and haunting score and sense of gravity are peerless, and the moment at the end makes your heart stop. Even if you aren't a fan of the Chief and his exploits, this trailer is truly a work of art in and of itself.
